Child welfare/protection is high on The League's
agenda.
The objectives of the
League are to have someone in every member club who is aware
of child welfare/protection and best practice.
Toward this end the League is announcing
two major initiatives
1) From the 2005/2006 season all
member Clubs will have to inform the League of the
contact details of their Child Welfare/Protection Officer and they relevant qualifications.
2) From May 2007 all Clubs which wish
to participate in the East Berks Youth Football League 2007/2008
season, must have achieved the
FA Charter Scheme Status. Any Club who has
not achieved this status will have their membership of
the League reviewed by the Management Committee.
The League totally supports the FA's
Goal scheme, for Child
Protection, which is about doing things the right way, doing
things properly.
Goal is about allowing
children to enjoy the game without abuse of any kind. That
means bullying, physical, emotional or sexual abuse and
neglect.
The FA and League believes football can have a powerful positive
influence on children. But that means everyone involved in
football must take on the responsibility of looking after
those children that want to play the game.
